    Addictions range from alcohol and drugs to behavioral addictions, and their use is increasing nowadays. Considering the causes of addiction; It has been observed that many factors such as biological, environmental and social factors are important. In addition to these factors, the psychoanalytic perspective is also very important in understanding the nature of addiction. Addiction has attracted the attention of many theorists in the field of psychoanalysis and has been one of their fields. The purpose of this review is; to examine the basic formation of alcohol and substance use disorder from a psychoanalytic perspective.
