    Summary :

Mother'S fantasies about having a baby begins long before the mother's pregnancy. During pregnancy, past conflicts of the developmental stages, especially the oedipal conflict, revive. Mothers, who has not been able to overcome the castration anxiety and accept the abscence, wish to havea perfect baby. If a mother, who had this fantastic view, give birth to amissing/damaged baby, it could be expected that mother will be disappointed, take a narcissisticwound, have a trouble inestablishing a bondwith her baby. Int this study, the participants are mothers, whose infants has an operation due to congenital heart disease and had been treated in the intensive care unit. Mothers' mental functioning are evaluated from a psychoanalytical perspective. The resultsa of projective drawings will be evaluated by using using Draw a Kinesthetic Family (Kaufman and Burns, 1972) and D10 (Le Men, 1966) drawing tests. The sample is 10 mothers whose infants are smaller 18 months. Drawing tests will be given one day after the first meeting and drwing tests give us an idea about theunconsious dynamics, the main conflicts and defense mechanisms. By using projective drawing tests, it is aimed to examine the mothers' experience of guilt, narcissistic injury and object loss anxiety as well as to get information about the structure of mothers' defense mechanisms, whether the mothers' internal mechanism allow to include baby in the family system in the cases, the external reality of the baby is the opposite of mothers' expectations and desires.
