    Summary :

    Since reproduction is one of the most important aims of all living beings, infertility may sensed as a kind of failure that brings along feelings such as shame and guilt. By the help of technological improvements in the field, most couples choose to undergo long lasting treatments. If treatment is unsuccesful, there are two ways for the couple: acceptance of the childless state or adoption. Couples who choose adoption, come up with different questions and responsibilities that requieres emotional strength. Adoption may be considered as a narcisistic repair for the narcisism of the individual who lacks control over the reproductive capacities of his/her own body. The aim of this study is to investigate defensive operations, organization and integration of ego capacities, object representations and affect regulation of adoptive parents. Rorschach test was administered to 20 couples that applied for child adoption and the findings of the study were discussed according to the French School of the projective methods by the content analyses.
